Pros
Backbase is an awesome place to work if you are self-sufficient most of the time. The environment is awesome. It is relaxed, informal, and multicultural. People are easily approachable, from regular employees to VP. If they are not in a meeting you can easily talk to them. It is a fast-paced company. Things change, and they change FAST. It is hard to keep up with so many different things going on in so many different parts of the company. If you know where you want to go or where you want to be this is a perfect place for you. You have to be self-motivated and pro-active to succeed here.
Cons
Maybe it is the Dutch culture but sometimes I feel a lack of human touch from the managers. It is good to hear from your manager what are your best skills, where you can improve, and what position your best skills would be used at its finest. Not everybody can go on years without this human touch on their work, self-motivation can't be going on forever. Sometimes a little recognition will boost the employee's performance and morale.
