Pros

I have been allowed to take my business in the direction that I believe we will be the most successful, without the "boss" constant looking over my shoulder. Pay is good and the opportunities to grow is available to all

Cons

Badger Meter is the leader in Utilities markets and seems to set back and enjoy their accomplishments in these markets. We always point to our best accomplishments. We as team need to work together at pulling the other markets in to gain the Leader role in these markets. We need to meet the markets needs in meter design and function. Development in new and updated products is a continue effort at Badger Meter but, takes too long.

Times Are Changing

Pros

The benefits are excellent (paid short term disability, good health/dental/vision, fitness reimbursement/on-site gym in MKE and Racine, 401k match + DC Contribution, tuition reimbursement among others). The company is growingly rapidly and the size of the company allows you to know the employees on a more intimate level while being exposed to a wide variety of projects. Opportunities for growth may require some lateral movement to other areas, but they are there for those who look.

Cons

The times are changing and there is an imminent culture shift beginning to take place. Badger Meter is a small/mid-sized company that is trying desperately to be a large company--less the resources. There is a strong sense of entitlement within some groups, and the organization is bleeding millennial workers at a rapid pace. Managers tend to make decisions that will make them more likeable amongst their peers while refusing to hear feedback from the individual contributor doing the work, regardless of the inefficiencies they cause. In a few years I imagine the organization will be a bunch of director-level employees high-fiving themselves regarding how awesome their titles are while failing to deliver any real, measurable results.

Pros

Good benefits, family oriented, friendly people, gained some life long friends. Sad that a couple new hires are the reason others are leaving

Cons

Favoritism to some employees, new hourly employee gets treated better than other hourly employees that have seniority in the department
