We appreciate your comments. We pride ourselves in the culture we have created, and the opportunities we provide for our staff to grow and develop here. The best learning happens on the job, and we are fortunate to have partners and other SME's who commit time to training and knowledge transfer both within and outside their practice areas, and who empower staff and managers with supervised complex work and client exposure. In addition, we have firm-wide and practice-specific learning committees to formalize soft skills and technical training and development programs.

Pros

-Workplace culture is pretty good -Colleagues are generally great to work with and often develop into great friendships -Flexible working schedule - as long as you get your work done in a timely and efficient manner you can essentially come and go as needed -Great articling experience - you get to work on more senior work and take on more responsibility earlier in your career which can give leg up on others -The internal CASB training and UFE prep program are excellent! The employees assisting the students take a genuine interest in seeing the students succeed and will often work with students to individualize a learning approach that best works for them. Easily the best place to complete your articling in my opinion. -For the most part, the management team is pretty good and easy to work with.

Cons

-The pay is very low once you have completed your designation, especially compared to industry and even other CA firms -Seniors are overworked, underpaid and under appreciated -Performance reviews appear to be arbitrary and are inconsistently done. Hard work and strong knowledge are not rewarded as much being buddies with the right people. This can have a profound impact on your career there in that you could be assigned all the messy and difficult clients making less than someone who only works on easy engagements The last several years has seen all senior accountants quit well before they are eligible for the manager promotion...that says alot.
