Students - Good pay for hard work
Pros
Worked the summer as a student. You get lots of opportunity for overtime, which can be double pay for a 12 hour shift on holidays. Possibility for long/frequent breaks, depending on how many incidences happen per shift, especially on nights. There are some great guys who are fathers who will stick up for you and help you out, you’ll figure out who the best people to ask questions are. Family day in the summer is fun. If you can put up with the manual labour and doing grunt work the full time staff doesn’t want to do, it’s a fine gig. You work a few 12 hour shifts in a row, then get a few days off, unless you take overtime.
Cons
Hot as heck, all the time. Super loud too. If you don’t like being sweaty and wearing earplugs & earmuffs for hours at a time, this would not be the place to work. Kind of hard to make friends since it’s loud. Might be hard to work here if you’re a girl due to there being like 4 women and 30 men, but I never heard of anything weird happening to the girls, most of the guys were helpful when they needed to be. I didn’t go back because pay was not increasing proportionate to the full time staff, despite often doing more work than a lot of them. After working multiple 12 hour days in a row, especially nights, it can be really hard on your body.
