Pros

Balsam truly embodies a people-first culture, where employees are valued and their well-being is prioritized. The PTO package is generous, allowing for ample time to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance, and they encourage you to actually unplug. Additionally, the benefits offered are comprehensive and cater to various needs, from health and wellness to financial security. The work environment is another standout feature. The office space is modern and comfortable, fostering productivity and collaboration. The team is supportive and inclusive, making it a pleasure to come to work every day.

Cons

No cons that I can think of.

Pros

Balsam genuinely cares about their employees more than most other companies. It's still a business and they need to make tough calls, and decisions around culture and office accommodations won't work for everyone, but in general the benefits are fantastic, the People team genuinely care about Doing the Right thing for every individual not just the company. Mac is genuinely a good natured person who is driven to build something lasting and not just to grow for growth's sake. Overall most teams are great to work with. People share interests and for the most part are fun to work with. While late nights are not necessarily common they do show up fairly regularly, when that happens you're rarely alone as others come together to help get things done. Most of this is driven by thoughtful and careful consideration by the people team specifically in the Boise office. I have nothing but positive things to say about that department across the board.

Cons

While the vast majority of the leaders and managers at Balsam are great, there are a few that will act genuine in public, but scream at you in private. Work life balance can be tough, given the international nature of Balsam, it's not uncommon for early morning meetings with East Coast and late night meeting with teams in Manila throughout the year. Technology at Balsam continues to be a challenge. Despite a massive improvement due to the creation of a Product Team and a clear vision from a CTO, we still are consistently delayed on rolling out technologies and the tech and engineering team are constantly incredibly busy trying to squeeze every last bit of code before season starts.
