Pros

The health insurance was ok and my manager seemed to care about us.

Cons

The technology is slow to improve so things are done in a slow and outdated fashion without great documentation. The company lost people (rightfully) left and right leaving gaps in knowledge. The worst part was David Morken, the CEO, and his terrible decisions and comments that negatively affected everyone. Like when he forced people back into the office during the height of the pandemic, despite knowing that performance hadn't lowered and the employees didn't feel comfortable coming in. Or when he would have his AMA's and would openly state that he didn't care if you left or not (but also said it broke his heart earlier). And said to "suck it up" when people talked about inflation. Every AMA he held had concerned employees asking reasonable questions and always heard back a terrible response from David Morken. I cannot recommend anyone work here.

Pros

- Fully covered health, vision, dental - Parental leave for new child - Positive PTO policies that encourage people to take time off and prevent them from doing work when in PTO - Stellar peers who are the most amazing humans ever. - Global, get to work with peers from many different countries - My manager is the best! - Regular events and challenges to earn extra PTO

Cons

- Even though we are global, the culture is very centric around the main office in Raleigh. The satellite office tend to get overlooked. - Recently, the company decided to require all individuals to work in office five days a week. I was hired in 2021 and was told that eventually I would work in the office a few days a week but would be primarily remote. I only selected Bandwidth because the understanding was that remote work would continue to be an option and i would not have to go to the office full time. Although the official company statement says they have told every new hire that Bandwidth has an in person culture, it was never told to me or other new hires that we would have to work full time in the office. Feeling like a switcheroo happened - misled. - Quality of life is decreased with return to office full time. My day now has 2.5+ hours of travel added onto it. That is 15+ hours a week my kids are losing out on. I have always made work decisions to maximize time with my family who I value tremendously. This company mandate has forced me to lose quality time I will never get back.

Pros

* Good healthcare * Decent culture * Work life balance * Gym benefit

Cons

The CEO acts like he cares about employees but doesn't. True colors were shown during the pandemic. At the height of it, he told employees to come into the office and to not be paralyzed by fear, and to "trust him." In other words, put your health and safety beneath the company's goals. In all hands meetings throughout the pandemic, we were told a balance would be found between remote and in office post-pandemic. Recently, this was mandated to be 100% in office. Aside from the covid botching: * Some codebases have a ton of tech debt that is not prioritized * Bandmates are told to be "300% candid" but it's more of a meme. Management is never 300% candid and sometimes speaks through so many wiggle words you have no idea what they're actually saying. * Employees aren't trusted. This is why we aren't allowed to work remotely anymore. Needless to say, the feeling is mutual given the lies about finding a middle ground with respect to remote work. * Pay is pretty low, so devs leave after a couple years.

Thank you for your feedback. Our unique culture is built on the close collaboration and creative energy of working in person. That’s why we’re building a new headquarters campus with great amenities to continue growing in a culture of being together. We encourage Bandmates to reach out to their manager or People Services to address special circumstances.
