Pros

I was new to the Insurance industry but No Dummy to life and work when I was solicited for an interview after I posted my resume online at 10pm, and received my first email at 9am the next morning. -They have a great office and friendly atmosphere when you get hired. They stretch your imagination of what you can earn, and buy. You receive High Fives every Tuesday and Friday during your mandatory office and training days (I mean “Hit the Phone Days”. -They give you leads for calling……You might as well grab the phone book and look for anyone with a name a senior citizen may have. Their leads are 90% of the seniors that they mailed turning 65 literatures to that did not request or want information. 3% of other leads are old Colonial Penn leads of people who called the TV advertising 75 days earlier, and found out that they cannot afford the overpriced life insurance. Then you call them and force your way into their house. Do what ever you need to get into the house. That is all that matters….1.2% of other leads are people that do not have the internet and requested Medicare information because they have no clue. Oh yea, you do what they call “Door Knocking”…..Your GPS says someone lives at this house and is turning 65…Knock, and scare them into an appointment and sell them the most expensive Medicare Supplement on the market….Really……..Oh yea, you pay $150 per month for these garbage leads. 5 other people in your office got the same list, so don’t feel bad when the person on the phone already spoke to a Bankers Rep the same day. -Get 45% of the first years premium with quick issue policy’s…..Get a charge back soon after once another respectable company agent comes in and sells a much lower priced product, and does not have bad rep on the internet. When you quite, you will not get paid any money due. They love ya when your hot and selling, but scared you have half a brain and will leave for another company…….Why would a company have in their contract that you cannot talk to your friends in the company and get them a better job. They want to keep you and their clients clueless. Yea, plan on driving all over your state for a $100 sale that you will split with a manager who takes you out, but you pays all cost. You will spend $90 on gas to earn $100 that you will split 50/50…Gas is 100% your cost. DO NOT fall for the selling to your family so you can make money. You are screwing them, and earning 50% off your family, while your trainer is earning the other 50% from your family. They hired you to sell their product, and also to suck any money out of anyone you know (Project 100). That is 100 leads the company did not have to pay for. They hired you, paid you nothing, you pay yourself when your sell, and your finally leave. Oh, and they don’t pay for anything. Good luck getting any literature for customers. They want you to pay for it. Their commission rates are lower than anyone. They say you earn 45%, they take 7% plus $150 per month for leads. Minus your gas, and 50% of your 45% minus 7% bankers takes plus other fees…You are broke and have to sell more to your family and have all of them hate for you to call…….

Cons

Each new hire is a potential lead and money generator from family members.

Pros

Bankers Life and Casualty was my first career opportunity after graduating college. Seven years later I have never once regreted my decision to work for this company. Since I was hired, the branch has continually updated and improved their training program to help new agents succeed. I take offense to those who say 'to be successful you need to scam seniors'. I am a successful agent. I have sat at kitchen tables with millionaires and those who are poverty stricken. They have all been treated with the same respect and professionalism. I believe in what goes around comes around. If you do what is right and in the best interest of the client good things will happen. In my experience, I have seen situations where seniors were mislead. It's not the company....it's the people representing the company. I am proud to represent Bankers Life and Casualty Company.

Cons

Bankers Life and Casualty isn't for everyone. The people that don't make it aren't victims. You definately need to be a people person and work hard your first year. My manager and trainers told me that on the frontend. But doesn't that make sense....you're a brand new agent learning the business. How can you become an expert in your business if you're not working at least 40 hours a week?

Pros

They give you a good base of knowledge on the industry. The training package both classroom and online is very good.

Cons

False promisses and omisions about actual cost. Trainers are supposed to help new agents but seem to ride along to get their own commision. You are supposed to be independent by they tell you where and when you can work.
