Pros

Security. Brand. Nice facilities, looks nice. Match 401k decent benefits but large organization. Takes most insurances. EHR connected. More physician managers than most organizations.

Cons

Very cold atmosphere poorly trained health center staff no triage no control over schedule too many 80 plus patients no cohesive doctor group Poor concept and support by local admin staff. IT that is horrible. Center breaks down frequently

Pros

I worked for Banner for over 26 years in the Western Region and in a system-wide capacity. It used to be great place to work. Patient safety, teamwork, standardized practice and employee satisfaction were really valued.

Cons

No longer a good company. Poor leadership and lack of insight has really taken its toll. Bringing in outside consultants who know little to nothing about healthcare was a big mistake. Banner no longer cares about retaining employees. Poor financial planning has impacted sustainability. The way downsizing and layoffs are handled is bad, and has created morale problems. Toxic environment in many departments with everyone being asked to do more and more with less and less is made worse by bad managers, and is impacting patient safety. Banner's motto of "All change, all the time," has contributed to its decline.

Pros

Well...pay is decent. And its a job but other than that I regret ever uprooting my family, relocating and ever working for this company. There are better options out there...keep looking!

Cons

This is without a doubt the worst company I have EVER worked for...and that includes being a housekeeper at the motel 6 down the street 20+ years ago. Management is incompetent and that is only if you see them...which is like never. Employees are scared for their jobs and turn over is high. Morale is so low its almost nonexistent. Short staffed is the norm and dear God if anyone questions it. This company runs on the old philosophy of 'Nurses eat their young'. The environment/culture of this company...and particularly the hospital I worked at (Baywood) is amazingly awful! And that is the nicest way I can put it. I learned 4 very important lessons working for this company. 1- don't talk to anyone because everything you say can and will be twisted around and used against you. 2- don't trust ANYONE not even people you think of as friends. 3- no-one is your friend. Anyone you think of as a friend will turn on you in a heartbeat to save their own butt/job and 4- don't ask questions even if you have absolutely no idea what the hell you are doing. IF you ask a question you will be viewed as incompetent and made to feel that way not just once...but on a daily basis. If I had known what a mess of a company I was going to work for I would have said hell no and run away screaming. Do yourself a favor...don't waste your time here. All working for Banner does is make your life a living hell. You question your own judgement and regret even becoming a nurse...and you are better than that...and this company.
