Not a dream job, but not bad either

Pros

The people I work with are awesome. Hard work is noticed and rewarded.

Cons

Upper management tends to subscribe to a philosophy of, "I don't have to explain myself, and if you don't like it you can leave."

Pros

Work is good when there is work to do, which tends to come in waves of too much then too little. There's free bagels once a week. Jeans on Fridays.

Cons

Departments are cliquey. Overtime is always last minute because attornies are overloaded. Management does not care about turn over. You'll find out pretty quickly that you're replaceable so if you're looking for pats on the back for good work or to feel valued as an employee, this is not the place. Compensation is grossly underwhelming for the amount of work. Little to no advancement.

Pros

The people are nice. The work week is 35 hours.

Cons

The pay is terrible and management did not seem to care much about staff needs. One time the AC malfunctioned and majority of the attorneys went home. Staff had to stay and suffer. Instead they brought in the AC contraction from 1965. You are treated like a child. The firm is very restrictive. You have to clock in and out, internet usage is monitored (you will get an email from management if you spend too much time on it) and there is no eating at your desk. Benefits are terrible. If you are looking to start a family, do not come to this firm. They only give you 4 weeks paid maternity leave. They do not offer short term disability and they do not observe the most common holidays (e.g., MLK, President's Day, Columbus Day, or Veterans Day).
