Pros

-Friendly interview experience -Decent pay (when you get it) -If you land the managers good side, you might enjoy it

Cons

-They assess you during training and immediately decide if you're worth it, or not In 8 months of employment, I was called in a total of 4 times (one of which was a mandatory meeting) -Clear divide between favored and nonfavored employees Several employees recieved top hours, while other employees I spoke to, like myself, could go MONTHS without a shift. The higher hour employees basically ignored the lower hour employees and didn't speak to us, or could be heard gossiping about 'who we even were' -Hostile and two-faced management The management was, at best, obnoxiously customer servicey to your face, and at worst, blatantly accusatory and hostile. My last shift (sometime before November), I had finished my tasks and tried to find the store manager to ask to clock out. While waiting for her to finish up something, another manager approached me and asked if I was trying to "run out the clock." Not to mention searching everyone's belongings on the way out to make sure no one is shoplifting on the job.

Pros

Great benefits! I had a great team who was with me for years. I really listened to them and tried to work with their schedules. It was retail so I told them they had to have some weekend availability. But by being realistic, I was able to keep most of my stuff for years.

Cons

District managers should be consistent and follow the company’s policy and procedures when managing their district. The reason I stepped down from being a store manager was because of a new district manager. DM had rigid rules that wasn’t in our policy and procedures. When I questioned anything, DM just stated that it was non/negotiable. I had been a manger for nine years, a trainer for my district, very low turn over in my store, and won our national trip. My numbers consistently increased, but DM wouldn’t budge on certain scheduling requirements. I was very fair with my schedules, so i felt i was being micromanaged. I had little autonomy as i did before. I decided it wasn’t worth my sanity, so I stepped down.

Pros

Fun coworkers, sometimes nice customers

Cons

- Hours are inconsistent and are often slashed across the board despite being “understaffed”. When they do this they’ll then constantly harass you to come in on your off days, stay late, and come in early. - Management breathes down your neck after asking you to complete multiple different tasks at the same time in different parts of the store completely. - Constant drama and gossip between managers certain coworkers. It’s like highschool but worse because most people are just trying to show up and get through their shift. - Offers “key holder” and “cash lead” positions which just mean extra responsibility, but they will not offer a raise with it. Upon declining the position, I just get constantly harassed by managers to do the extra work anyways with no compensation. - Extremely low hourly pay compared to the average rates of other employers. People at McDonald’s start out making $2 more per hour.
