Pros

Your fellow same level employees: everyone becomes trauma bonded to each other either through understaffing, the lowest pay for any hospital in Baton Rouge area, or the realization that they are the only help you'll receive. That's what creates the culture in every department. that usually holds for about 3 to 6 years, depending on if the low level employees are students at the same time. then the revolving door works around class graduations. There are people there that wont ever leave, because after all their original friends left, they became trauma bonded to the place itself, like a true sunk cost fallacy. Believing that their Loyalty and Hard Work is some tangible currency or shield that protects them.

Cons

Your Loyalty to this company will mean nothing: the decades you've worked, the holidays you spent away from family, the overtime your boss begs you to do so they themselves don't have to cover the shift, the effort you put into your job daily. If for whatever reason the effort switches, even for a moment, and you ask for or need help, The only thing that will be considered is cold hard calculus. Does HR believe you are worth enough to transfer jobs for whatever reason? Do your bosses think that: if they trap you into a role you hate, will you just give up because you don't want to be homeless? Does your direct leadership care more about shift coverage, than your mental health or wellbeing?
