      Battelle: A great place to work, HORRIBLE management

      Pros

      We invent the future. A lot of places say it, we mean it. If you want to work with highly skilled, passionate people on projects that truly make a difference, Battelle is for you.

      Cons

      Many layers upon layers upon layers of management. Low pay. Degrading benefits. Obscene bonus packages for those that don't do anything.

      Pros

      Easy to speak with management. Encourages professional growth. Allows employees to be flexible with their time if needed. Offers raises and bonus opportunities when you're a good employee.

      Cons

      They're primarily a contractor for the government, so if contracts are not being won, then you may have to worry about your job. The bulk of the jobs are in Columbus, OH, so if your regional office gets closed or if you have to relocate, it may not be the place for you.

      Watch out for HR

      Pros

      Worked on some great tasks. Tasks were meaningful, important tasks that contributed value to the client Peers were generally good to outstanding. Overall staff is good to excellant. Salary was OK. Not the best, but better than most. Good awards program. I won an award for my work, which was very rewarding. My superiors were the best. They looked out for me as much as they could.

      Cons

      HR establishes policies and no one can change the policies. If you make HR mad look out, not even your superiors can turn HR around. HR has run off some talented folks which has reslutled in a downward turn for Defense Business. Policies are made for folks in Columbus and do not always consider the satellite offices. Be prepared to travel to Columbus a lot.
