Pros

Flexible work schedule. Plenty of parking due to a skeleton crew work force.

Cons

The upper level execs especially the CFO are destroying the company. Because of bad business management to cut costs they eliminated the pension, made health insurance unaffordable, and are taking away training budgets. If they tell you that they will pay for additional education don't believe them. The CFO is currently converting everyone into open space cube farms to save money which make it difficult to work. He has also pushed to get rid of anyone with experience so they can hire at a cheaper rate. All departments are under staffed and are overworked.

Pros

Your coworkers and the technical problem solving have, and will always be, the best part of Battelle. People generally want to do the right thing, even if it goes against "policy".

Cons

Executive leadership has destroyed the reputation, morale and goodwill of the company. Recent early retirement offers have resulted in the intellectual capitol walking out the door, with high potential, mid career staff following closely behind due to better opportunities elsewhere. Those that remain are young and inexperienced, mid level, risk adverse and disengaged, or Sr. Management with outdated ideas of what the workplace should be. Lack of market insight makes us blind to the realities of the business we want to go after, and the blurred lines between government and commercial make us inefficient and lethargic at both. While commercial makes decent returns, the government business continues to crater, yet all are treated equally. If this were a public company, the underperforming businesses, and their leaders, would have been gone long ago.

Way too much management. Management wont listen to staff. Lack of foresite, reactive not proactive Will smother you in the bureaucracy and squash great ideas
