Pros

Baxter Healthcare has a very open and comfortable workplace atmosphere. The benefits are great and all your co-workers are enthusiastic about their work and supporting others with theirs.

Cons

Baxter's management likes to run the engineering divisions very lean, so lean in fact that you very likely will be expected to work on far more projects and fill more functions than you are hired on for, sometimes to the point where there are not enough hours in the day to complete all tasks. Be sure to set boundaries for yourself so your work-life balance isn't leaning toward the former.

We appreciate you taking the time to give our readers insight into Baxter's open workplace, and we couldn't agree more regarding the benefits. We especially love the mention of our people being enthusiastic and supporting others because this is so true! Pros

Health Insurance is pretty good.

Cons

The compensation and bonuses for engineers are not competitive for a global leader in medical devices and especially for a fortune 500 company. The director level leadership changes every year. The plants are a pain to work with. Half the time they don't have the requirements ready when a project kicks off. The other half of the time most of the plant personal quits. The turn over rate is awful. No opportunity for promotions. They dangle a carrot with training and the need for more experiences but those opportunities never come. If you are looking for career growth it won't happen here.
