Pros

The fellow employees are great to work with and are generally hardworking. Bloomington is a great city to work and live in.

Cons

Not sure where to begin here. First and foremost, the culture is toxic. The employees from most every department (manufacturing, quality, engineering, etc.) are overworked and under-appreciated. Annual raises are a joke, even during a good year for the plant. I received a promotion within my department at only a 1% raise. This was the final straw in motivating me to find a new job. The benefits package in general is weak: vacation time is very limited, health insurance is expensive with very few options, the bonuses are small, and there are no cash rewards for excelling. I saved the company $2 million in 2013, and I was given a card with a cheap pen and water bottle as appreciation. Management is not willing to invest in the facility. There were plenty of equipment failures that could have been prevented if proper care and replacement were made a priority. In addition, procuring the best equipment was to a priority. Most times, the cheapest junk was purchased and the engineer was tasked with making it work in compliance of the regulatory requirements.

Pros

Great official company values like supporting work/life balance, empowerment, continuous improvement, diversity. Official company benefits include insurance, paid vacation, personal, & sick time with caveats in certain departments.

Cons

Members of customer facing department do not enjoy the same work/life balance support as other departments and are punished for using allotted sick time. "Paid sick policy is not the same as attendance policy," is a line I never heard at any other company. Political environment. Managerial discretion is too loose. Mid level management does not seem to be held accountable for supporting company values & I have seen that going to HR is never to an employees advantage. One particular manager shuts out any information that is contrary to what she wants to hear & attempts to intimidate people who do not see things her way. Over emphasis on numbers & too little focus on good behavior leads to sloppy work & bad behaviors that are practiced so the numbers look good.
