Pros

Good community of people with an understanding of our mission to improve the lives of patients. Stimulating work. More team-oriented than my previous work places. Culture of continuous improvement influences more high-functioning. Many bright, intelligent co-workers to handle our sophisticated and delicate workload.

Cons

Very stringent and restrictive bureaucracy. Too many activities based on fulfilling the bureaucracy than providing product-driven, results-oriented value. Lots of redundancy. Too much concern with covering one's own butt. Becoming overly preoccupied with insubstantial things like no overtime work and covering metrics than accomplishments. Culture of continuous improvement contributes to convoluted and self-contradicting bureaucracy. Marginal incentives. Some stagnant workforce that have difficulty doing things other than how they've always been done.

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits, opportunities to move around internally, for the right person it can be a place where you spend your entire career, good people

Cons

Very traditional, slow moving, lots of unnecessary bureaucracy, easy to get "stuck" doing the same thing forever, no formal management training in place
