Pros

Salaries are competitive. Benefits are not.

Cons

Benefits are lousy and even though they use the terms such as 'healthy life' their benefits' package do not reflect it. Poor vacation and personal time banks. Time off policies are not applied consistently, if you are lucky enough to have a manager that likes you then you will experience some flexibility; if not, then good luck to you. Senior to Mid-level leadership is NOT made accountable but yet those in not a leadership roles will have to follow very strict guidelines. Not a friendly work environment to people of creative thinking and also people of color - at any position or level. This organization was a huge disappointment. Their administrative practices and systems are outdated. Leadership spends a lot of time undercutting each other even though they pretend to be cooperating with each other.

Pros

Excellent organization. Great mission. Wonderful people.

Cons

Baystate Health senior leaders do not always walk the talk. We are a patient driven organization, however leadership appointments and key business decisions are often seem politically driven. Baystate has too many fluff leaders -- big title, huge salary, zero accountability. When it's time to tighten the belt, low level workers who are critical to service delivery are cut, but never the grossly overpaid administrative and physician leaders.

Pros

The health system takes its mission very seriously and delivers good care. A lot of good people work there. In terms of employee satisfaction, they are at least trying to make things better, though they have a long way to go.

Cons

1) Work life balance is almost entirely absent, though the employer pays lip service to it. 2) Professional development sorely lacking in all too many instances. 3) Out of control managers not kept in check.
