      I have worked for Beacon Communities as an employee for one year and also had the pleasure of having Beacon as a client for 5 years. In my 30 years of business I have never worked for such an employee centered company. It is evident that Beacon finds its employee’s true strengths and desires and leverages them to build an engaged and empowered team. I have experience as both an employee and employer and would recommend a career at Beacon Communities to anyone seeking to work for the number one thought leader in the Affordable Housing Industry.

      Pros

      For those who are willing to buy into Beacon's culture, the results can be both personally and professionally rewarding. When I write about the Beacon's "culture," I am talking about the committment to doing the right thing under any circumstances. As an employee, I feel empowered to make decisions that I know will not produce a financial gain (and may even cost money), but for the sake of the people involved, must happen. This attitude begins with senior level leadership, and is preached throughout the organization. Since joining Beacon 6 years ago, it has proven to be a great fit for me. Prior to Beacon, I bounced around the industry as I tried to find a company that was a good fit for me. Beacon's culture and the opportunities that it provides has been a game-changer for myself and my family.

      I won't bother taking a seemingly positive thing and presenting as a con. I love my job and the growth opportunites are great...

      Only Property Management Company where the Maintenance Dept has more say that Managers

      Pros

      Most people are nice to your face however it seems as though if you don't agree with things you are considered negative. During the time I was there many employees expressed disappointment but were very afraid to express it to management being feared to be viewed as negative. Anonymous reviews of the management company were sent out and even these reviews were returned with skepticism that they were anonymous.

      Cons

      The maintenance team seems to run the show. And I would agree with another reviewer that property managers are left in the dark until the very end and a chain of email and will be sent to the manager. This includes changes in staff where employees start working at your site with no notification or are removed with little to no notice. A Communication promise is sent out monthly which is basically a pretty newsletter about where people have gone on vacation or new babies. Oh yes if your favored you will get a mention. There is definitely favoritism in this company.
