Pros

Corporate experience and regular hours.

Cons

Everything else. Dishonest management. They will pull at your puppet strings constantly and repeatedly fail to deliver on their end. They will flat out lie to you to get what they want. There is no teamwork, just individuals trying to make themselves look better. They will work you to the bone. You'll probably do two or three other jobs and consistently work over 40 hours a week without a salary increase. Not to mention of course that the salaries are well below the lowest point in the spectrum of industry standards. In the end, they won't even say thank you when you finally decide to call it quits. They'd rather let the hard working good employees go than address the turnover issues. They simply chalk it up to a pay issue. Let me make this clear, yes, the majority of the employees that leave are going to companies and positions that pay much better. However, that's simply because everyone else pays better. The real question they need to address is why all their staff is looking for new jobs in the first place. I assure you, pay is not the first, second, or third reason. I gave my two weeks notice after several years and various accomplishments (that were outside of my duties and self-initiated to improve the company) and they sent me home the same day, just to save themselves money by not paying me the two weeks salary. Wow. Bottom line, they're not professional or ethical in the least. Don't come here unless you need an entry level or dead end job. The one good thing that came from my experience is that working here gave me the motivation to become self-employed.

Pros

Nice product, clean stores and good associate incentives.

Cons

Little employee appreciation or value for the extreme hours and workload. Most emphasis on gaining credit card applications from customers regardless of the unscrupulous tactics being used to gain them. More pressure to perform unwarranted tasks than being an Employer of Choice. Would never recommend Bealls to anyone who knows what working for a great company looks and feels like;very "Mom and Pop" philosophies.

Pros

1. Okay advancement as long as you take the first thing offered to you; don't bother holding out for more or you'll be passed over. 2. Employee discount is pretty solid at 20% and employees can still reap the benefits of the credit card (the $5 coupons and 2x the points) 3. Friendly work staff at the store level.

Cons

Oh boy, where do I start? 1. Inconsistent work hours. One week you'll have a reasonable amount, maybe 30-35 and the next your hours are slashed to half that due to the company not wanting to have associates move into full-time when they want to keep you part-time or temp. 2. Upper management is a nightmare: hope your manager catches their Distrcit Manager/Regional Manager on a good day lest your work environment be a literal hellhole. 3. Completely unrealistic goals for managers/supervisors. I'm sorry, but the insane push for credit cards is nuts. Upper management never seemed to view Key Performance Indicator goals with any realism. Corporate would come up with goals out of the blue and DM/GM's would push the manager that much further past that for no reason. 4. Payroll is insane and if you have a DM that expects you to keep payroll in check and get your markdowns done in 24 hours and get your truck out in the same amount of time, good luck. You're told to call people in and use hours and then screamed at on Monday when your payroll's out of whack. Nice management. 5. Hope you don't like being trained because if they move you through the ranks fast enough you won't get an ounce of proper training for your job. Worse, they'll throw you into an impossible situation and set you up to fail. Nice! 6. Upper management will not lift a finger to help you if you don't understand something (for example, you're told not to call other managers for help if you have a question, then you're told to call your DM exclusively, THEN you're told to call another manager for help) and they'll let complications and problems build until they can nail you for several things at once and either write you up or throw you out the door. 7. The company heralds itself as this bastion for employees and a wonderful family company but they will work managers, supervisors, and associates to the bone and give you flak for using your accumulated time that you earned.
