Pros
Working for Bealls you get to live in one of the most beautiful areas in the country, and your peers are kind & genuine people.
Cons
Cannot trust anyone in HR, or Management. The company is stuck in the mentality of the 1980s. Diversity and inclusion are non-existent. There is only 1 executive that is NOT a straight white male. The pay is HORRIBLE, and the employee structure is so lean that employees are pulled in 1,000 different directions. Expectations from management are unrealistic, and company systems are outdated, antiquated and cause more problems than they solve. Direction from management seems to change daily. If you do not bow down and do as you are told, you are put on the back burner and passed over for promotions and raises. They just want mindless robots who do as they are told and never question the status quo. Benefits are a joke, the 401k match is the worst I have ever seen in the industry. Health benefits are terrible and very costly. PTO is also some of the lowest I have ever seen in the industry. Dress code is old and outdated like everything else. Denim is only allowed on Fridays yet the company claims to be a fashion retailer!? Makes no sense at all. The employee turnover rate is unbelievably high for a small private company. The executive team would rather spend more money hiring and training new talent than every rewarding loyalty and building bench strength. The business cannot progress forward because of the toxic work culture that drives out good talent. The company is only able to recruit management that has been fired from other retailers. Salaries for the same positions are all over the board sometimes spanning 3 pay scales. Very low and insulting expense budget for Buyers when traveling, the amount per day in NYC and LA means you are eating fast food and that’s it.
