Pros

-Co-workers are great! -Benefits are good -Corporate Retail could be a very exciting, rewarding industry - the potential for a wonderful career with this company is there. -Company has employee development programs, but there are so few positions that ever open to advance to that the programs are meaningless.

Cons

This company is 100 yrs old and you can tell. Very old-fashioned thinking and stuck in their ways. Not open to change. LACK OF RESPECT - There is a huge lack of respect for the mid to bottom rungs of this corporate ladder. There are highly capable, intelligent, hard-working, good people with years of experience and college degrees on these lower rungs that are treated as uneducated, cheap labor. These are people that have a tremendous influence on the company's business! LOW PAY - Extremely low starting salaries, no significant raises (1-2% is the norm), no annual bonus, no 401K match (well, up to $85) and no communication about future possibilities. You are expected to work as much as possible for a bottom-line salary and with no appreciation from upper management and no discussion of your future with the company. Correction: there is appreciation in the form of a good parking space for a month if selected as an "Employee of the Month". LACK OF COMMUNICATION - Your future movement within the company is not ever discussed. Senior Management keeps position openings under tight wraps. There are no in-house job postings of openings other than entry-level. Even at reviews, you may be told you are doing an outstanding job, but there is no discussion of your future career path.

Pros

20% discount at the stores.

Cons

Upper Management is an entrenched old-school "clan". If you have not been here for 20 years, you have NO CHANCE of getting promoted. So many good people have left due to "old boy" network that does not give 'outsiders' any opportunities. It is a very 'clique-driven' place...lots of corporate politics in every decision. They DO NOT ALLOW any work-from-home situations...unless you are part of the clique and "in" with the family. So they have one set of rules for a small/select group of 'favored' people, and another set of rules for everyone else. Very old-school here. HR is a mess...there are basically two HR teams that operate completely different from each other. If you call one person in HR, you get one answer, and if you call another, you get a completely different answer. And this could be for employee issues, etc. that have legal ramifications. I know that many Managers and employees have left due to this reason. Being a Supervisor here is very difficult...and I feel sorry for my employees, who are subject to confusing policies coming from upper management and HR on important issues that make everyday life difficult here at corporate. All the really good people leave after a few years.

Pros

Small company based in Florida.

Cons

Rude, condescending employees and leadership. Zero collaboration and communication happens in bubbles, never trickles down or out across departments. Nepotism is also loud and proud. The company has been having a hard time with sales all this year and leadership can’t find their rhythm to get profitable, just keeps having meetings (and not communicating). Not worth the very small pay and non-existent benefits.
