Pros

Decent offices, somewhat decent benefits (with 6 months maternity/paternity leave). They provide good customer service to their clients and as a result they seem to be doing well in their market. Which could also translate to job security. I really cannot think of any other benefits. But there are quite a few cons.

Cons

If you’re a POC, tread carefully when considering working for this company. It is predominately white women in charge here so be prepared for the possibility that your boss may be a “Karen” or a “mean girl” who forms clicks and alliances with their “favorites” and will tag team against you to create an environment of division and competition. White women are the masters of manipulation and will do anything to maintain their fake pristine image and will not hesitate to throw you under the bus. You will also be walking on eggshells because your co-workers will watch and track your every move and will be quick to expose any errors or perceived wrong doings. You will get the sense that you need to be tracked, monitored and “kept in line” while your co-workers have complete autonomy. If you’re a POC you may begin to feel like there is a secret that everyone knows and you’re the only one who doesn’t know the secret (Kind of Like the Movie “Get Out”). You will never be “one of them.” I am grateful that I have now been able to leave the world of Beazley behind for a much better opportunity with better pay but just wanted to warn any POC who is considering this company to have a backup plan in case you end up with a bad manager.

Pros

Very talented staff keep the company going

Cons

Beazley used to be a great place to work, but ever since the new CEO was promoted a couple of years ago things have got much worse. He is more concerned about gender and race than anything else, and he benefits financially by hiring racially diverse candidates, so this is no place for white males (despite being one himself!) He pretends to be concerned about the environment so introduced strict carbon budgets which heavily limits travel, but then forces all staff to come in to London twice a week and ignores the impact of all that additional carbon. Oh, and the carbon cap doesn’t apply to him, of course. We veer from one strategy to another, constantly introducing huge new change initiatives without thinking about the impact on the teams and then wonders why the growth plans aren’t materialising.

We believe doing the right thing when it comes to social and environmental sustainability delivers results and are proud of how these efforts have contributed to Beazley’s success. We also prioritize open and transparent dialogue and would encourage you to discuss any concerns with your manager or with your C&P business partner so they can be addressed.

Just Another Domestic Carrier

Pros

Little accountability so easy to coast by doing little work.

Cons

Potential job candidates should reach out to former employees through linkedin. Just another domestic carrier. Managers like to walk around pretending to be "executives" because they have some level of authority for the first time in their lives and working out the years of frustration of attending fourth tier schools, being C students, and being picked last in gym class. Anyone seen as a threat is unceremoniously labelled a troublemaker, not commercial, or unsophisticated, while yes men who readily belittle colleagues are praised.
