Pros

The discounts are always great so I find most of my paycheck going straight back to the store. I really enjoy the people I work alongside.

Cons

Too many expectations in regards to sales, credit, duties, and other "corporate pushes" to deal with in one day, on top of being short staffed all the time.

- good discount and deals on merchandise - great co-workers, family like atmosphere - opportunity to learn the basics of retail and merchandising hands-on, great experience for those who want to start a career in Retail - fairly consistent communication, process and procedures - Belk is careful and steady about their growth, realistic about goals and sales

Cons

- work can sometimes be monotonous (sale sets, markdowns) and become robotic - compensation is just okay, no commission or bonus for most departments or managers on the sales floor - work-life balance, holidays can get crazy, but that is the case in most retail stores
