Pros

Company Customer focused. Money for solicitation of Credit and new incentives. Some loyal employees Most customers have shopped there for years. Modern Southern Style

Cons

Long hours, low pay, commission sales difficult to make more than hourly rate, Some Consultants don't care only want to sell and not complete tasks. Lack of advancement potential or difficult to advance due to politics in store management. Commission sales confusing. Expected to complete tasks like sale sets and audit practices during store open hours, when at best only two people on staff at any given time. Lunches spent most time with one person in an area. During holidays bring in extra staff, but not trained properly or confused about the actual job needing to be complete they want to sell instead of departmental tasks.

Pros

People were easy going and fun to work with, the management seemed to care about the workers and took into account if someone was having a problem. The hours were pretty good, I worked part time average day I would get there at 7 or 8 in the morning and work till 12 or 3, hours varied by day but overall they were usually decent hours to have.

Cons

I wish they gave more advanced notice on scheduling, sometimes they gave two weeks notice but many times it would be like 2 days before your next schedule. Store was understaffed and at one point we were actually opening freight that was marked for clearance because it had been in the receiving area for so long. Also the under staffing meant we didn't always have time to do other things like cleaning, parts of the store were filthy. Management was inconsistent, they cut corners when they were busy. Sometimes we just did things one way then when the district people came in we changed things to appear like we were doing things right. There shouldn't have to be that sort of change. If something can't be done the proper way then maybe it is time to re examine how things are done.

Pros

The benefits are great. Wonderful discount, great sales, good vacation package.

Cons

Supplies are first come, first serve. POS systems are very antiquated. Expectations for perfection is very unrealistically high given the skeleton staff. Most everything falls on the department manager... markdowns, sale sets, merchandising. There is a operations team but they are inadequately trained and are not available when needed.
