Pros

Tim Belk is an amazing CEO. Learned a lot about merchandising and buying while working here.

Cons

In merchandising it's very catty and high school. A lot of gossip. It should be about work and not about someone's personal issues or what have you. Even senior management is involved in the gossip and the rudeness and it's unprofessional. I couldn't even trust talking to my DMM because I knew what I would say would get out. Also you are spread so thin and wear many hats. Pay wasn't great for the workload

Pros

The discount on quality goods. There are many great people that work here.

Cons

Management would say one thing and so another. My manager was very hostile to me and untrustworthy. She was always trying to find ways to get me in trouble and would lie to upper management to do so. Obviously upper management believed her stories and retaliated when I would not sign documents concurring with what she said. I even called their 1-800 number to report her several times and our upper management said I was making up things and that it should not be reported to Corporate.

Pros

I have nothing positive to say.

Cons

The company is so disorganized. Upper management have no compassion and they treat their employees horrible. I feel like I do underpaid for my skills. The micromanaging is absolutely horrible. They cause so much medical issues that I never have them before. The pressure to get credit applications in the economy is horrible. They need to work in our shoes to see if they can get these so called credits so easily. They cut so many hours I don't get how some employees work FT hours can't survive. They need to learn how they are not Macy's and they can't compete with them. They make so many empty promises. They are a bunch of liars. They promise me management and here i am several years later waiting.
