20% employee discount and it is less exhausting than retail grocery work. For me a big plus is I have a very short commute.
Cons
The ongoing bullying by some coworkers is covered up by store management who insist it’s all in fun and to be a good sport when their favorite workers taunt and mimic you.These protected workers blame new employees for their mistakes, resulting in the penalty to the latter, of lesser hours. Corporate people express concern but don’t seem to have the power to remove lead-role employees who harass, and who cheat by taking sneaky shortcuts to enhance their speed reputation. The chummy favorites get the longest hours, their desired schedules, no hassles or micromanagement, and are awarded employee of the month status. Other Belk stores may have more objective store management. I don’t know. It is the norm here for people to get so fed up they leave after a few weeks.
