Tough environment

Pros

Corporate office is nice after remodel, all employees are bonus eligible and there are a lot of really great hard working and smart people who work there

Cons

Leadership lives in a bubble. Employees fear to speak their mind. Mgt says culture is otherwise, but if you disagree with the direction you get painted as negative or not open to change. No performance feedback, one minute you’re hot, then next you’re in trouble.

Pros

Consistent pay check. On campus gym. Company resource groups are a good way to meet people if you have time to attend the meetings.

Cons

No flexibility and cannot work from home. Work life balance for merchants are poor. HR is unresponsive. Management requires lots of rework. Upper management is trying to flash building updates to distract employees from the massive layoffs. Review process is overly complicated. Management will force employees to stay in areas to benefit them even if employees ask to move. Systems should be less complicated and more efficient. Creating orders take far too long and require too much man power. Vacation and sick time has been decreased.

Pros

Days off during week (except when you have to work on your day off).

Cons

-Work on days off a lot and you don't get them back. -You can't advance if you can't move. -New approach using Operations team strips budget from selling floor (leaving areas uncovered) yet they don't accomplish what they need to due to lack of care, skill, and leadership. -Signage/pricing accuracy is big issue yet prices constantly change, OFTEN with NO notification. -Belk hasn't figured it out yet. A lot of lip service to work life balance, but the bottom line is much different. -If this is supposed to be the retail "employer of choice", get out of retail.
