Pros

Most clients are wonderful, tips are decent, gratis was cool, some of the girls I worked with. This is excluding the people the try to throw the other girls at the counter under the bus to make themselves look better. That's makeup retail for you.

Cons

The constant need to be fake and overly excited. Which clients literally would tell me they didn't appreciate. Traffic stopping!!! I understand pulling clients when you're not busy but shoving product down someone's throat is not effective. Which is the approach they want you to have. Honestly everyone I knew that worked at Benefits was miserable and waiting for something better. Also opportunities might be available but you're going to be absolutely perfect and more than above and beyond for them to even consider it. I was hired and made to believe that in a few months I would be promoted but even with getting recognition all the way from San Francisco. I still wasn't good enough.

Pros

Making some good friends in the beauty hall and the local Benefit Counters. Other than that, not much really tbh!

Cons

Ha where do I start. Unrealistic targets, that don't get lowered when staff leave. I was there for 18 month and including myself, 8 members of staff left in 18 month. Including someone that lasted 2 week. The area manager was a bully, we called her the smiling assassin. She said everything in a happy tone, even if she was threatening you with your job. The products are rubbish. Area managers don't understand that not everyone that appears on counter wants to spend £150+. Traffic stopping is embarrassing and degrading. Used to be an alright company. Now it looks cheap.
