Pros

Good commission and bonuses, some employees are nice and you get free products, but allocation is bad compared to other companies.

Cons

Unrealistic targets and having to constantly traffic stop customers to hit them, making you feel demotivated and lose confidence. Management are pushy and rude and I heard some extremely nasty things said about other employees and the way they looked.

Pros

Free make up/ Good hours with decent breaks/ Money is pretty good! If you work on a counter where the manager doesn't follow traffic stopping religiously and if you get to stay around the counter to deal with actual Benefit customers who are coming to you for help it can be quite a fun job. I really enjoyed interacting with the customers & doing their make up.

Cons

Shallow area management they are only nice to you if they want something or if you are preforming well on the counter most of the time the area managers do not even say hello or goodbye to you they are only interested in the account manager and how much money the counter makes! Traffic stopping is by far the worst part of the job it doesn't work! Degrade yourself begging a customer to come and sit down then spend time doing their make up if they do not buy anything management are unhappy and are all like why didn't they buy anything ? What could you of done better?(never mind your told to invite them for a FREE makeover) utter bull if you ask me! No one likes it and i truly believe that is why benefit have such a high turnover of staff.. Who would want to spend all day walking round a shop constantly having people be rude or avoid you like the plague? No thanks! Another thing that I hated about it was the silly monthly reviews where there is always something you could of done better or where units should of been higher I found it very patronising having to sit there and explain each time why not every sale was over three units. The worst thing as well is if you work in a Boots yes you do get paid more but you are expected to serve the Boots customers and help them with find other stuff in the store that is not counter related most of them were rude if you could not find what they wanted and then ungrateful if you would help them! Did not really click with the other girls on the counter one liked to act as the manager when the account manger was off & would question my sales and look at my sheet as if I was doing something wrong when I would get decent units! Also where we were all working together on a dead weekday the customer would get half way round the counter & would be ratty where they had already been asked if they wanted help on each corner of the counter! I hated it! You could not pay me to go back
