Pros

If your niche is brow services or you want the experience in doing brows, I say go for it! You’ll benefit from performing the services and become better at doing brows and other facial hair removal + tinting services. Bigger boutiques provide more services. Other Pros: Client relationships, working with a team, gratis twice a year + when there’s new product launches, training, benefits if you’re full time (vacation, sick hours, health insurance offered, commuter benefits, etc) You also get experience in other areas that are non service related. Ex: answering the phone, reaching out to clients, keeping track of metrics in a book, etc. This is a lot, but will be useful to you in the future.

Cons

-Work/life balance is nonexistent unless you can get your manager to keep you on a consistent schedule -The smaller boutiques are extremely tiny. I can touch all 4 walls in the bathroom (I wish I was joking) -Hours are long -There isn’t a break room for employees. (At least not in the smaller boutiques.) Employees are forced to eat in a super tiny office (if it’s not in use) or eat outside. Offices usually don’t have a microwave or fridge so pack your lunch properly or get ready to spend $$$. This can easily become an annoyance + inconvenience. Employees should have a place to relax and eat in peace. -You have to sell. Conversation (selling products with a service) is a big thing for this company. -Turnover is HIGH -Different locations can be short staffed -Part time employees don’t receive any benefits -Schedule is usually inconsistent. You’ll be scheduled different days and times. My advice is: try to get your manager to at least give you the same days off. -Too much is required in your role. There isn’t a receptionist so you’ll be doing a lot -Clients who “no call no show” are not charged and can rebook at any time. Some clients walk in extremely late and still expect to be serviced. Not everyone respects your time, so set boundaries. Grace period is 5 minutes so don’t feel pressured to deal with nasty people. Accommodations can be made if time allows.
