Pros

This August will mark my 13th year with Berkshire Residential. I have held a few different positions at Berkshire including Assistant Property Manager, Property Manager and now Training Director. Berkshire is the first company I have worked for in Multi-family that recognizes the the importance of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. The Corporate Culture at Berkshire is extremely positive and the level of acceptance of bringing your WHOLE self to work is unlike any other company that I have worked for. It is obvious that every member of our company appreciates the integrity and openness of our team leadership at Berkshire based on the longevity of most of our team members.

Pros

One of the common things you will hear about this organization is that it's "Like Family" and it really is. I firmly believe that the way your company treats you during times like Covid-19 and all the racial injustices currently in the forefront of the world; should show you if it's an ethical and strong company to work for. I can tell you that Berkshire has been nothing but supportive during the Covid-19 pandemic. They are consistently out-sourcing PPE for community & team members. They have and continued to be closed to the public until we get past Covid and they have been so supportive. We have pandemic PTO and continued communication via our Portal and upper management via Town Halls and e-mail communication. Additionally- they have decided to speak up versus stay silent during the #BlackLivesMatter movement. This speaks volumes. They realize that they have many different races working for them but they also realize that the movement is important and that they must be a part of the chain. There was an open forum in a town-hall meeting that was just such a special moment for our team members. Hearing upper management talk about how regardless of the riots - it's not the property damage that is important - it's making sure their people are safe and physically & mentally okay. There is a Diversity & Inclusion committee that I am a part of and I love seeing that it's getting highlighted; especially in today's climate. Finally - David Olney spoke at our 2020 national meeting as Covid-19 literally changed our lives as we were on our way home from this conference. What he said will forever resonate with me: "take care of yourself / then take care of your family / then take care of work". With that said - I just completed an acquisition with Berkshire and 2 weeks after take over David Olney called me on my cellphone to see how I was doing with Covid and the takeover and to congratulate me and wish me luck. I was floored! I also just had asset management message me to check-in on me and to make sure I was okay. I cannot begin to tell you the love and gratitude I have for this amazing organization. I am so proud to work for Berkshire and have found my forever home!!!

Cons

More work from home options for on-site teams.
