The family you love to hate...

Pros

Family atmosphere. There is a 'cafeteria' on-site.

Cons

The family you love to hate. lack of communication is rampant. False expectations are consistently set. Procedures are inconsistent as is management direction. One leader says one thing and the leader above them has a different expectation yet neither are communicating to those actually doing the work. There has been a huge exodus of IT staff in the last 2-3 years. What is left are those with egos and newbies with no direction. Those who have been with the organization for a number of years pretty much do what they want and fail to deliver with little to no accountability. It's just the way it is. Lack of diversity and/or understanding of a diverse workforce. For an international organization, there seem to be some huge gaps in this area.

Pros

The Brand is evolving with big changes ahead, 70th anniversary in 2016. Company is competitive. Salaries are competitive for new hires. Employee benefits include hotel discounts. Working with hotel owners, general managers can be rewarding. Global company with exposure to international side of hospitality.

Cons

Very low employee recognition, comes up as top organizational issue every year on employee survey, for the 10 years. Company has low employee engagement as a result. Limited to none internal promotions, lateral moves are available, which means no title change or salary increase. Insurance is expensive. Company is a non-profit organization. Annual salary increase or bonus (if eligible) are minimal even if you, your department or the company did an outstanding job, hitting targets and stretches on scorecards. Company has been downsizing past few years, be prepared to do more with less. Last minute project changes are comment.
