Pros

Some of the people (what’s left of them anyway) are wonderful.

Cons

Where to begin. First and foremost, don’t let the 5 star reviews added in by Recruiting fool you, we all know the execs and HR team will force people to do these to save face. This place is crumbling. I’ve been with overstock for a long time and used to absolutely love my job. We had the best culture. Now it’s like being on game of thrones as we watch mass layoffs of amazing people every few months to “save paper clips” which is laughable because what the exec level pays themselves could easily spare these people’s jobs. Then they hire in their buddies who are truly clueless and childish and don’t want to learn the job because they “don’t like people” (that they don’t even know). The current exec team will drive this place to the ground. Not to mention the lies and distrust! I could go on and on, but spare yourself. You’ll make more elsewhere and be way happier.

Pros

6 months ago I would have told you our leader cared and respected their employees, that was all thrown down the drain when we were forced back into the office with 3 days notice (work from home for 2 years) to figure out your home life. Our CEO and President had been promising over the previous years we would get at a minimum 6 weeks notice. LIARS

Cons

Where to begin. VPs and above don’t care about you or your well being. You will be guilted into working scheduled PTO days, you will be guilted for leaving after you’ve worked your hours for the day, you’ll be expected to work weekends and holiday, and I haven’t even mentioned that you’ll be severely underpaid. The Overstock way. Attendance by our current VP is done daily to ensure local employees are in the office, while a large portion of our team is remote. Including many of our Directors and VPs. If you care about your life, stay away from Overstock.

Pros

Great, hard working people dedicated to taking care of the customer. Solid benefits package. Hybrid remote/in-office model.

Cons

Without doubt the most toxic professional environment I have ever worked in. Management kowtows to the abusive example of the Director level. Opinions are solicited and then shot down in front of everyone. Directors are abusive bullies who would rather yell at a virtual room of people instead of take the time to actually understand what the true trends and friction points are. Director level is toxic, abusive, unethical; this sets the trend for the rest of the business. Abusive Directors only reward their Managers when they in turn behave equally abusive. Such a toxic work environment.
