Pros

• The company outside of my group at least seems "relatively" sane

Cons

• I was initially lied to about what I'd be doing (e.g. 99% non-coding after 3 years) and what group I'd be working on, leading me on for about 6 months with false promises after my hire • I was repeatedly asked to risk my personal safety by reaching into a machine while internal parts were in motion • My role went from Hybrid, to Remote, to Hybrid, to Hybrid with the condition that they can pull me in 5 days a week for months on end depending on the work they want me on • I am currently being unfairly treated by my manager and I am being pushed out of the organization by utilizing a illness that I'm actively trying to get diagnosed • When trying to transfer away from my current manager to another group within Bio-Rad they loved me in my interviews with them, but after a week I was told it was a no go -- I was told later by my manager that he gave an "honest" review of me to them • Up to ~70% of your days can be meetings if you hold significance on your team as a SWE/SWD • Bureaucracy is a major failing point for the organization, if you're a team lead expect that every manager in your org now wants a piece of your time to answer the same questions you've already answered many times before • Almost everyone on my team of 10+ people has talked about quitting outright at some point within the past year

Wow, we thank you for the feedback and letting us know you're suffering. Please take action! If you feel your health and safety is at risk, Glassdoor is not the place to raise your concerns (though we do appreciate this opportunity to advise you). Please go directly to the HR team that supports you--that is if you are having issues with communicating directly with your manager. We also have an Employee Hotline that can be accessed 24/7 and is confidential. It sounds like you would really like to stay on here at Bio-Rad despite the issues you've encountered, so please reach out for support. We pride ourselves in being a human company and appreciate any chance to correct our course. Wishing you well!

Pros

I enjoyed working with other developers

Cons

No promised "annual bonus" that's always listed in LinkedIn job postings. No cost of living raise. Negative feedback is continuous and public. Managers contradict tech leads. Mangers would rather close bug as "won't fix" even when developers have a fix ready to commit.

We appreciate your feedback. It sounds like there were some significant challenges in your role. We hope you were able to raise your concerns while you were here. While we hope to be able to provide bonuses to our employees, they are based on achieving the company's revenue goals. As such, they are not guaranteed and are not advertised as such. We wish you the best in the next phase of your career.

Pros

Management that cares about their employees and invests in building their skills. Ability to work on life-changing technology and work on a global team of committed employees.

Cons

There is a larger amount of non-technical work required of the position due to the company being a medical-tech company that has to meet regulatory requirements for many different countries.
