Pros

BioAgilytix used to be an amazing place to work. Once upon a time, I LOVED my job and the people I worked with. Going to work was a joy and I had a good work/life balance, great colleagues and a reasonable work load. All of that was before CEO Euan Menzies took over.

Cons

CEO Euan Menzies is taking BioAgilytix down like the Titanic. The culture of BioAgilytix is now one of fear and loathing. He's like the evil king trying to punish the townspeople by taking away all the former benefits, sending in his spies to watch everyone 24/7 and report back, insulting people to their face and about them even months after he has fired them, promising people raises and bonuses and job security and then firing them weeks later. Unfortunately, it's not a fairy tale but real life. So many of my colleagues are joining me and applying for new jobs and leaving this toxic culture as soon as possible. That's why I'm on glassdoor - looking for a company with better reviews and warning others to stay away from the poisonous place that is now BioAgilytix.

Pros

Perks galore. Bread and circuses. Egyptian beer keeps the slaves happy and unable to revolt. It's an historical reference, people. FFS.

Cons

Machine designed to crush souls. HR exists to weed out anyone who may be 'undesirable' for revenue. There's no such thing as protecting the rights or interests of the employees. There is no whistle blower policy so if employees witness unethical conduct, they risk their jobs to report it. Multiple people with declared disabilities have been run out of the company with some documented but b.s. excuse. Scientists who gave their heart, soul, and countless hours of their lives to the company to help build it up in its early years are terminated because they're not generating enough revenue in spite of the fact that they worked 80 hrs/week even in the face of personal tragedy. There is no work life balance or personal support. Maternity leave is the state minimal and even when it's taken, the mother is harassed continuously to continue to work from home and made to feel guilty for the time off. Yes, they provide, food, snacks, and parties on the regular but it's only because they expect you to be there for 10-12 hr days. They entice new hires with a quarterly bonus schedule then employ some gorilla math to avoid paying in full. New hires who were promised reimbursement for moving were put off for months. Going to HR for protection from harassment is as good as signing your termination slip. Employees are gaslighted by their superiors who feel threatened by them and they're allowed to get away with it. Most reviewer approve of the CEO. He knows many regular staff by name and chats with them and pretends to be everyone's fried behind the phony smile of a politician. But no matter how nice is he is to our faces, let us never forget who approves all the policies that have robbed this place of any humanity. Company culture is set by leadership. If the culture is toxic, so are its leaders.

Pros

I enjoy the people I work with on a day to day basis. They are truly the only reason I have stayed and continue to stay though it's getting harder and harder.

Cons

Communication - inconsistent laterally across the organization (including site to site) and vertically. There is no consistency and it's so confusing. My manager doesn't' seem to know what's going on because their manager doesn't know either. ???? Disconnection - There seems to be a huge disconnect between us in the labs and the executive team. Most of the executives are remote yet we are all on site - how does that work? How can you possibly understand our company if you're not even here. Surveys are a joke. It seemed promising at first, but guess what, the absolute minimum has been addressed. Not surprising that engagement is down - stop sending them out. They have touted the same "plans" to improve the business for the last 2 years yet no change except to take things away . We used to have a culture where we felt heard, respected, and a good dose of fun every now and then. Now it feels like a culture of stress, repression, and that what we do is never enough.
