Ultimately "my way or highway" mentality. Their profits drive their decisions. Two faced management.

Pros

Autonomy, trust in their employees, work life balance. I wake up with a positive attitude about going to work and leave feeling like I accomplished something. It’s a great feeling! The culture is a perfect balance of high expectations, but realistic expectations. My opinion and thoughts are asked and cared about. I would highly recommend working here if you get the opportunity.

Cons

Benefits run a high, but such a good company that it’s worth it!

Pros

After having worked for different companies, I have found Birge and Held to be a great fit for me. They give you the goals, the tools to obtain those goals, and let you do it. I have not experienced micro management from upper management, though I will say I have heard rumblings of other managers who find micro management an issue. If you are performing, their focus seems to be on those properties that are not. Learning is always supported, and the opportunity to grow exists.

Cons

Too many "middle" management people, inexperienced in the industry, who seem to get in the way of allowing the operation to flow consistently. Communication is not consistent
