Unorganized, Cheap, Confused - I came, I saw, I quit
Pros
They send a payroll regularly
Cons
I was hired and told I'd need to relocate to the office in North Carolina "immediately" upon being given an offer, in July-August 2021. Upon being extended an offer I was told and clarified that this had been pushed back because of "local mask mandates" and that it would actually be remote for the time being. In the interview and pre screen, the recruiter (rude as he was) informed me there was no remote under any circumstances- and also insisted on dropping my pay from an offer in hand of 75k to Birlasoft's 'maximum' of 65k. Upon submitting background check it took absolutely forever to clear and for them to give me an offer on letterhead, and they expected me to come join at the date promised even when it would be 2 days of notice to my present job. (That's when they gave me offer letter. When it was 2 days shy of 2 weeks.) The developer workstation is the cheapest I have ever encountered, a 13 inch HP netbook with 256gb SSD, it locks up if you try to load Chrome. The tech stack is almost abysmally outdated, with 1990s work tools and the stated reason for 'no remote' (ok full remote actually) being this outdated tech stack. Multiple points I notified them in email on my IT service ticket to replace a broken Laptop screen of a corrected address, never did it uptake properly. Multiple times. I had to call IT support to get unlocked from my work station, only to have the barely intelligible offshore IT services tell me to 'email my workstation password'. I was simply in awe at this horrific security posture, and stated that under no circumstances should this be required, this is bad practice and is prime target for a phishing attack. (Need I remind you that this was an indian call center?) Even my boss started getting on my side about this. I had a simple solution- email me with the instruction "Email us back your workstation password"- to whcih the call center pretended to not understand me. I said it multiple times, for the stated reason that I can authenticate you are the proper authorities through email signature, and it will be on the record this is your request and not me volunteering information. They REFUSED to do this. I did get into email contact and two workers, with broken english, then asked for "my contact info". To whcih I come back with, "We're in contact right now! And I will not be putting my phone number down because you have barely understood my instruction to email me to begin with, and you will just call me again. Say what you want through this email." To no response. Both my boss and his boss were totally out for the last two weeks of the year to avoid "expiring PTO" and not monitoring anything about the team. This is disrespectful and short sighted of corporate to allow teams 2 weeks of time with no management. Finally, after about 5 months in, security screening contacts me again saying they had never actually completed my background check. "Please verify your last employment." To which my response is a simple, "I have already worked here for 5 months. No." Typical Indian fashion, "Please verify last employment for background check. I trust you will resolve this immediately......." In usual NPC fashion, I say "no thanks" to a second background check due to their own incompetence and there's a blue screen of death as he pretends (or is genuinely) to be confused about what I said. I put in my two weeks and was called by HR to say my relief date was immediately, meaning I would be leaving 'now'. I've never been at a company (save for Domino's Pizza or similar) to behave like that, and it's really truly par for the course. DESPITE me having moved literally 2 weeks into having started this job (if you'll recall, I was told I'd have to relocate!) and me having updated that address, and having the offboarding HR person verify my updated address, my W2 STILL arrived to my old address and was forwarded. So the system did uptake my address change, it just never populated to the documents necessary to steal my identity and claim my tax refund. I do not recommend this company, they underpaid me for my experience at only 65k, their IT stack and security is abysmal, the Corporate and Offshore IT (which is the home of this place) can barely speak english and will use incorrect terminology confusing everyone further, and all this to be left in limbo as to whether you're relocating or not, for HR to make mistakes on the most crucial and simple of details. There will be another job- hopefully- wait for that one.
