Pros

Very practical, real world training for management and leadership roles. Upper management goes to great lengths to meet the ever growing demands of it's workforce, while doing so on a budget that comes with the territory of being a smaller company. The negative reviews you see on here are from former employees who didn't appreciate the fact that working with live animals every day is a TON of work and responsibility, and if you didn't anticipate that going into the job, then you probably did not do your research. Upper management will go above and beyond to ensure the people putting forth the effort and that are truly invested in the success of the company are treated in the best way possible. When they see potential in someone, they will nurture and coach this person in a effort to fully develop them. To some it may seem like they are being pushed too hard, but I can personally attest to the fact that the management team ultimately has realistic expectations, and they want to see the best out of every one of their employees.

Cons

I'm sure a lot of the other negativity in previous posts comes from the fact that the longer you work there, the more emotionally invested you become in the teams around you and, of course, the dogs in your care. There are certainly rough days...it is inevitable when working with live animals. Work/life balance can sometimes get a little out of whack, but not nearly to the extent of what some other posters on here claim. The bottom line is, if you do your research on the animal industry as a whole, nothing at Biscuits & Bath should ever come as a surprise to you.

Thanks for the posting and for providing your insights into the company. I wish I did not have to respond to some of the postings on here (especially being familiar with the performance of some of the employees and the reason why they are no longer with the company), but candidates who are considering employment with the company are reading the reviews. Most candidates are not familiar with our company and/or have never worked in the pet industry before and look to Glassdoor for information. They usually have some preconceived notions about the industry and are often surprised to see how much structure we have in place to support our employees (i.e. we have an employee handbook that outline our policies and procedures, we provide training, we offer medical, dental, vision and 401K benefits, in corporate we have HR, Finance and Marketing teams, etc.). For the most part, candidates are able to read these posts for that they are. I am thankful these candidates are not afraid to ask me about these reviews during the interview and remain open to our employment opportunities. The candidates actually appreciate that we respond to the reviews.
