Pros

Much of the time you can pick your hours.

Cons

I was the only employee not getting high on my break. Not professional people. The manager asked me to tie 4 large dogs around my waist (I am 5'3) and go down steep stairs. How dangerous is that. I said no thanks and quit the next week or so.

Pros

The dogs are great, but the staff is incapable of completing most tasks.

Cons

Poor, poor management and terrible compensation. When minimum wage was raised from $9 to $11 back in December of 2016 everyone who had received previous .25 raises all lost those raises and were back to square one. I had received several .25 cent raises in one year and then lost them all once the wage went to $11. Very unfair and unprofessional. Also, the management has poor communication and the worst hiring technique I have ever witnessed. They hire people without any proper dog training or knowledge of dog experience. It became a very dangerous working in a room of at least 25 dog at a time and if any fights broke out you were left to handle it on your own which has led to many injuries both to myself and many other employees that I personally worked with. They are very understaffed to cut costs and made it a very unsafe environment. I left after being told that I had to take on other people's duties without getting compensated.

When our employees take on additional responsibilities, like dog walking or bathing, they are compensated at the appropriate rate for the role. As outlined on our recruiting website, we do not require prior experience working with dogs for the Dog Handler role, but require that you genuinely love dogs, be comfortable with all breeds and sizes of dogs, be capable of consistently following all handling and safety protocols, possess a great deal of focus and attention to detail and be physically fit to lift dogs 50+ lbs., kneel and stand for long periods of time. The Dog Handler role is an entry level role and individuals in this role are expected to move into one of our more skilled roles after 3 months of good performance. Individuals in the Dog Handler role are not meant to be in this role long term. As we do not require prior experience working with dogs, we provide training which includes among other things, how to identify different types of dog behaviors so you understand what can lead to a fight. We also make sure with all roles, that candidates understand that dog bites are to be expected. Regardless of your dog care role – Vet, Groomer, Dog Trainer, Dog Handler, etc. – you will be bitten by a dog at some point. Give me a call when you get a chance on 212-401-3024. - Allison

Pros

The staff all love animals whether experienced or not, and willing to forgo breaks lunch and dinner because of insufficient manpower.

Cons

As above plus there is no where to take breaks in every venue. Facilities can only accommodated have less dogs than upper management enforces and accountability for other staff are unrealistic owing to the low experience standard of hiring.

From your other posts on our benefits, interview process, etc., I realize now that you worked for the company a few years ago. A lot has changed since you left the company. Even in my short time with the company, things have changed. I am not sure what you are trying to say in the Cons section, but with regards to the Advice to Management section, we clearly state on the job description that the manager role will maintain the operational and service standards prescribed by the company in the position description and key responsibilities sections.
