Pros

work life balance, good perks and decent office

Cons

The company is not truly invested in growing employees and the pay is not competitive so hard to attract talents. That means you won't work with truly smart people and learn from your peers. They tired to make money and has become scared to do innovative things. All decisions are held at the executive level and poor communication outward. The clique that exists among those been at this company the longest. Those who are new to the culture really get taken advantage of by the old ones. The most important thing is their business model is not sustainable so you won't see a clear vision of the company.

We're sorry to hear you feel this way. Employees need to know what's going on to feel secure in their job and perform well, and communication is a key component. We've made a commitment to infusing transparency into all aspects and all levels of the business. We’ve set up various avenues to create a transparent environment and an open forum to ask questions, that include: • Bi-monthly: the company gathers for a quick company update where key events, achievements and company updates are shared • Monthly: Company Newsletter highlighting an employee every month, key achievements, birthdays, anniversaries, upcoming events • Quarterly: company updates where all departments present how they performed against goals and what the future company outlook is like • Quarterly: Anonymous Employee Pulse Survey; feedback is discussed openly and action is taken, when appropriate and actionable • Quarterly Team Building Events to create the bonds of trust that are needed to communicate effectively We welcome any ideas on how to infuse more transparency and communication, while balancing the core value of not having so many meetings that folks can’t get things done or have fun.

Not a place for talents

Pros

The company makes tons of $. Good work-life balance for people with family.

Cons

I do not understand why this company is just looking for "cheap" developers. The package they provide is the very low end of the current job market. As a result, it moves super slow even the team grows a lot in the past years. There are very few top performers but neither will stay long enough for various reasons. Not a great place for people passionate about technology and enjoy the speed in a cool startup. The culture is a bit weird too because nearly half people are from one country.

From the CTO... I'd like to address some of the negative feedback. First diversity. Our engineering team is extremely diverse. At this time, our engineering team includes American, Belarusian, British, Canadian, Chinese, French, German, Pakistani, Russian, Singaporean and Spanish nationals. Our culture is naturally diverse because of our two office locations (Seattle and Singapore). Second speed. We've consistently doubled in size every year within our short history. It's impossible to sustain this kind of speed without engineering keeping pace. At the same time, the way we develop new features is probably more organized than the chaos you'd find in a "typical" startup. Within the last year, our speed has allowed us to transform from a leader in mailbox migrations to a leader in migration of all types of electronic content, as well as new automation solutions. Third talent. Our retention is several orders of magnitude higher than average for the industry. Our team is definitely not made of "cheap developers" but includes a wide spectrum of experience levels (from new college graduates, to senior developers with 20 years of industry experience). Many of our employees graduated at the top of their class, come from top-ranked universities, or had significant levels of responsibilities before joining BitTitan (see employee profiles on LinkedIn). Regarding our compensation package, we use industry surveys to ensure that our compensation matches market expectations. Our package also includes excellent benefits (including unlimited PTO, free health care, free dental, free vision). At the same time, we do believe that stock and performance-based incentives should be important factors in any employee's compensation. Taking everything into account, our compensation packages are most definitely competitive. Finally, profitability is important to us because it keeps us honest. If you want to work for a "cool", unprofitable startup, then we're definitely not a good choice.

Pros

Well, there are a lot. First, BitTitan is a start-up which means that everyone gets to know everyone, we move fast and we do not have heavy processes to comply with before we can push code to production. It's a really exciting environment where everyone comes with its skills and has a direct input in the solutions we provide to our customers. To relax, we have a pool table, an Xbox 360, fresh beers in the fridge, bagels, cheese and three shelves of junk food!

Cons

Everyone plays an important role in the company which makes it harder to go on vacations and can imply more stress at work than in a classic company. You need to be ready to get involved into this company more than any big one like Microsoft or Amazon.
