Pros

Independence and creativity are a hallmark of Black Mountain. You'r encouraged to think outside of the box, share ideas across the organization, and create action plans that will actualize your ideas. Executive team recognizes individual talent and works collaboratively to place people in positions of success. They want to find you a role that aligns with your career goals and work diligently to find that opportunity for you. Overall, a fantastic organization.

Cons

A virtual environment of offices across the globe makes collaboration sometimes difficult. With such a independent and lean culture, you need to be aware of when you need help and actively solicit assistance as most people are too busy to sit over your shoulder.

Work Hard, Play Hard

Pros

1) Communication between management and staff is fantastic. I feel that I can maintain an open/honest discussion with my supervisor at all times about both the good experiences and the bad experiences. 2) The people here are all incredible. I haven't met one person yet at the company that I wouldn't want to continually work with. The hiring process here is specifically designed to ensure that the company culture and values are present in every new employee that is brought on board. This really shows itself once you have a chance to actually meet everybody at one of the company monthly happy hours. 3) Everybody here has a sense of purpose and knows why they are here. I know that I am a valued member of the company which gives me a great deal of satisfaction with working here. Every day, I feel a sense of accomplishment for the job I am doing and I look forward to coming into work everyday because of that.

Cons

1) You are expected to work an average of 50 hours per week. While the company does help you with crafting a more comfortable schedule around that 50 hours, it is still a large chunk of time to swallow. I have found myself struggling with this many times throughout my time here and I can easily understand why other people struggle as well. Also, you are taking a 20% hit to your salary based on time worked because you are being paid for a 40 hour work week, but expected to work 50 hours. For example, if you are paid $70K a year, that's $1400 a week, and $35 an hour (8 hrs a day, 5 days/week, 50 weeks/year). However, you are expected to work 50 hours a week (10 hours a day). If you worked hourly, your weekly pay would be $1750 for that 50 hours. Since the job is salary and you only get $1400 a week, you lose that 20% for the extra time spent at work. 2) There are also other trade-offs to the benefits here. They do offer 4 weeks paid vacation which is good, but there is no separation of sickness vs regular time off. If you come down with some debilitating disease that takes you out for a week, that is a week out of your vacation time as well. While the managers say to take time off when you are sick so as not to infect anyone else, the incentive is to not do that so you can get more time off for fun things. The company also does not contribute to your 401k plan at all.

Pros

A growing company, with great people, and a great culture. They promote teamwork, collaboration, transparency, and fun. They have a great training program for on-boarding new employees. There are a lot of exciting team building events throughout the year that give you a chance to get to know your coworkers even better.

Cons

Not much to say here, except the workload can be challenging at times.
