Good people, unstable leadership

Pros

Individual contributors are generally highly competent and good people to work with. Adil is excellent. One of the few senior leaders I've seen go on a company wide meeting and take responsibility for the company's challenges. Product can be a passion project for competitive gamers.

Cons

Unprofessional comments from leadership made employees uncomfortable. Some interviews were conducted in ways that felt noticeably unprofessional and raised concerns about leadership maturity. Direction changed frequently, resulting in heavy micromanagement. Turnover across multiple teams was high, and workloads were often stressful and poorly distributed. Limited total addressable market and challenges in ad monetization make growth difficult to attain. Make sure you're comfortable with the culture and leadership style here before signing on.

Decent compensation, but high pressure and little security

Pros

Compensation is fairly high, generally speaking. Lots of passionate individual contributors at the company. The (relatively) new director of engineering has been trying hard to affect positive change. Unlimited PTO. 401k matching.

Cons

Raises and promotions are rare. Generally, whatever salary you join at will probably be what you stay at. Not even a cost of living adjustment. There was mention of a bonus program earlier in my tenure, but to my knowledge, no bonuses were ever paid, and I don't know if it even still exists even in theory. In engineering, you'll generally always be on call in some form. Relatively few company-wide holidays. Priorities are constantly shifting, and the company is going fairly all-in on being "AI-First". They expect near-perfection while moving at a fast pace, with lots of pressure from the executive side. Hard work often feels like it goes unappreciated. They constantly expect you to do more with less. There hasn't been anyone in an official HR role for months.
