Good Company, Good People, Confused Plan
Pros
I really enjoyed the people and teams I had a chance to work with while at Block. Very smart and friendly teams with an open communication channels up and down the organization. Overall the benefits were pretty solid.
Cons
Pay was significantly below market value for similar roles and not flexible / unwilling to negotiate on compensation structure (pushed hard for more RSU when stock has been very volatile). There was poor delineation of duties and organization for a company of this size. As a highly regulated entity, they need better checks and balances across the organization as they let revenue generating business lines run unchecked. Also they need to re-focus on the fundamental business lines as competitors are catching up in a lot of basic areas that they used to dominate.
