Pros

The Mission - LLS on the mission-side makes incredible things happen.

Cons

A few leaders at the top have unfortunately created a toxic culture rife with mean girls who have clear favorites and promote a culture of silence. Do not take a leadership position in fundraising - you will not have power to advocate for anyone you manage, you will not be able to push back when national standards are rolled out that don’t apply to you and your chapter, and you will not be successful amidst constant changes, reorgs, and in the doubling or tripling of work overnight that happens as a result of hastily made changes to the Field. If you give feedback or have a different way of thinking, you’ll be blocklisted quickly and potentially forced out of the org.

Micromanaging. Sales job.

Pros

Wonderful benefits. Flexible schedule. Work/life balance. Lots of PTO.

Cons

Extremely micromanaged. This company used to be focused on mission and is now solely focused on revenue. They expect way too much from volunteers. Literally told staff we have sales jobs now. Extreme pressure to meet sales goals and KPIs and then not even guaranteed a bonus. They took away 403b match this year. Steer clear from this organization. Terrible management and leadership.

Pros

Mission, coworkers, decent level of support services for advancement staff. Fundraising integrity.

Cons

Poor leadership at the Executive Director level as well as VP level and above. Competing priorities. New "shiny objects" to chase. Red tape. Favoritism.
