Great cause, but don't expect to be valued for your hard work

Pros

Knowing that you are truly making a difference in the community, a great cause, and a great way to meet great people (fundraising participants)

Cons

Expect to work really long hours, and when your hard work gets noticed and you get promoted, expect to work even longer hours, and get almost nothing for a raise. Expect to have zero work-life balance, and have to sell your soul for the organization. And no matter how hard you work, you will be expected to do more. It's never enough. Good talented people with good, fresh ideas don't get rewarded.

Pros

You can really learn anything you have ever wanted to about business, healthcare, and research significance. A job you do because you want to expose yourself to alot of different facets of a business.

Cons

High expectations on all staff with a lack of recognition of the reality of those expectations.
