Pros

Nearly 80% of funds raised go to mission

Cons

LLS is able to provide so much to mission because they are entirely understaffed and underpay their employees. Employees are expected to do the equivalent of multiple jobs and management has refused to fill positions to save money, but then expects (and communicates this expectation to staff) that they need to "make it happen" with the limited staff they have, and the extra hours need to be put in.

Pros

Great cause and good people. Not everyone can say they help cure cancer for a living!

Cons

You don't work in non-profit for the money!

Pros

An amazing mission, which you can be proud of supporting. Also met very generous and kind people who are committed to ending cancer.

Cons

Top management (in the home office) expects the field staff to work ridiculous hours, which in turn trickles down to middle management and below. They prey on people's desire to help the mission by not hiring enough staff to do the work adequately, and insist on financial goals that require routine 60-80 hour work weeks and weekends. Also firing incompetent workers is next to impossible, as the HR department is so terrified of lawsuits. I have worked in other nonprofits, and no other organization that I have experience with has mistreated its staff like LLS.
