Pros

1. good team members to hold together through all the politics and bad things happening in the office 2. nonprofit status

Cons

1. no execution capability of vision/strategy at senior executive level 2. managers do lots of finger-pointing instead of holding themselves accountable 3. everything is so secretive. Absolutely zero transparency. Data breach is called as "unauthorized access" that ONLY affects XYZ members health records. 4. promotion is based on favoritism, not experience and competency 5. instead of being honest and admitting overall poor business performance, executives blame employees and call this layoff as "talent upgrade". 2015 bonus will not be 100% pay-out due to bad business performance 6. consistently low employee engagement scores with the new executive team at organization level, but they choose to ignore it. 7. too small to scale and compete with big 3. 8. CEO had his chance to build a real team to execute his vision, however, poor choice of the EVPs will eventually drag himself down. This makes people wonder about Paul's leadership. 9. no so-called pay equity. The longer you stay, the less you got paid comparing with the newcomers. 10. promote people who are not capable to lead and build the team to fail. 11. no job security. layoffs happen multiple times every year, consistently.

Pros

The mission sounds really nice on paper, online, in political campaigns...etc. It couldn't be further from the reality of what this company is about.

Cons

Everything you'll read in the one star reviews is consistent with my experience. I felt like it was my duty to stand in support of those who had the courage to write the truth about their experience working at Blue Shield of CA.
