Pros

Gratis. Vendor contests. Store hours. Location. Sampling to clients. “Team selling” atmosphere.

Cons

In short, their corporate and upper management setup is a hot mess! The disconnect between stores and upper management could not be further apart. With all of the new store openings(6 in my district this year alone!), there has not been another DM position added... meaning we have had our DM in store for ONE WHOLE DAY in almost 9 months. Although this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it also has made the staff question if she really “gets our flow and business” when numbers, etc aren’t made. Constantly out of stock of cleaning materials/supplies for store and spa, which is then to be purchased by store manager out of their own money(to be reimbursed months later). Expected to spend $20-40 out of pocket for “homegrown events” every weekend of the month. More concerned with selling proprietary brands than other high-ticket merchandise. Will get in trouble for not making these outrageous goals even if total store goal is met. Bonus stucture is a joke. Goals are outrageous, especially for a new store with not true gauge on their business. Employees are not to go into overtime(daily or weekly) but the adamant understaffing(being “scrappy”) makes this impossible..and in turn will result in an angry email from upper management. Store managers have set schedules with Sunday’s and Wednesday’s off. If there is an unusual circumstance in scheduling for the store and a manager takes a different day off, they will be reprimanded, even if it is on the schedule sent to upper management a month before. Employee vacation requesting/pay is all over the place and multiple employees have been paid weeks after the fact due to disorganization at corporate level. HR Department is a joke. Will keep a manager on if Store is making goal, even if manager has multiple complaints against them. Change in store promotions days before or during promotion causes chaos. Expect managers to be top in sales(with bonus structure this actually steals from associates as managers don’t make commission and creates a “sharky” sales environment). No real room for growth. They reel you in with the stories of managers moving to DMs quickly, but there is no real action in this part of their company. Was actually told that they don’t want to promote from within anymore as they are “losing their foundation” by promoting store associates and managers to higher positions.

Pros

Vacation time great, but you are never allowed to use it! And when you do use it, your still on call!

Cons

Working 12 days in a row with no day off, open to close, and not even a thank you for all the hard work you did! Not cool! When you have a day off or on vacation, but your regional still calls you and you are expected to respond to emails! Not cool! No work, life balance here! No recognition, no support, no advice on business growth, no balance on work......all from upper management(regional)

Pros

Discount is ok. They carry prestige products that are hard to find. Customers are fun. Liked the boutique environment. Events are fun and alcohol is provided.

Cons

Benefits are horrible. Upper management is very clicky. They like to promote from within, if they like you. Computer POS system is old. Managers office is the sales floor, (no back office). All calls needs to be made on the sales floor.
