Decent but not great company at which to work
Pros
- Flexible with time off for office staff (dependent on which manager and VP you are under) - Comp time option to hit the hours you need per month (again dependent on your supervisors) - Majority of colleagues are friendly - Moderate annual bonus (end of summer) that helps offset the lower salary some and a holiday bonus in December - Above average amount of vacation, for a US company, per year although some of it you are forced to use during their summer or winter shutdown - Decent insurance at a reasonable rate although now if your spouse can get coverage from their job then they cannot be on your coverage through Blum
Cons
- Major company first mentality even though they will say the employee is important to them - If you look out for yourself above the company they will attempt to 'shame you' - Pay is 15-20% below market value for office personnel. Company does not want to admit they are in the Charlotte Metro area and should be competitive with those figures. During the interview they will sell you on the fact they pay overtime even to salaried employees so that will make up some of it but the overtime is actually pretty tightly monitored and not freely available as much as you would be lead to believe in the interview - GM/CEO of the US subsidiary seems to enjoy belittling and embarrassing employees in front of others (fortunately he is on the way out) - Mediocrity is the norm and the expectation at this company; not in their products but in what they expect from their employees - Company 401k match is weak
