Pros

I have had the privilege of working with Boart Longyear Inc, and I can confidently say that it is one of the leading companies in the mining industry. The company's commitment to its employees is unparalleled, particularly evident in its innovative program. Boart Longyear has devised, approved, and implemented an incentive program that stands out from its competitors. This program not only promotes increased production through a structured bonus system but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a safe work environment. Health, safety, and quality assurance are top priorities at Boart Longyear, and this commitment is reflected in every aspect of their operators. The company's dedication to safety is commendable. Recklessness and unsafe practices are not tolerated, ensuring that all team members understand and adhere to strict safety protocols. This approach fosters a culture of responsibility and care, which is crucial in the demanding and often hazardous mining industry. In summary, Boart Longyear Inc. is an exemplary company that values its employees and prioritizes their well-being. This incentive program is a testament to their forward thinking approach to business, making it a fantastic place to work.

Cons

I mentioned that management is hands-on, but it is the responsibility of the technicians to voice their opinions. If circumstances aren't in the best interest of both driller, helper, or the company then it is best to communicate these issues clearly, otherwise management can't intervene and the problem persists until the working environment becomes unbearable resulting in poor attitudes, inconsistent attendance, and even in the worst cases, injury.
